Fabric wreaths in the making

Today was my first christmas themed workshop. All the girls wanted to make a fabric wreath. It’s so nice to have a fabric wreath that you can decorate to your own taste, and you can use every year again. Just a nice handmade piece made with love.

What I still have to learn, is how much time it will take to create the projects I select. I always think I made it in an hour, but then, for example, I totally forgot the time I have spend to create the felt heart I hung in the wreath…. So all the girls left with homework today :-)

A little girl is born

A friend of mine got a daughter recently. Inspired by the birth announcement I made this paper/fabric creation. The size is A5 and I first clued all the pieces to the card and then sewed the tree branches.

I was inspired by all the comments on my feedback request, one of the things I did different was the way to put the name on, I think it’s better readable now :-)

Packaging is everything

As a late birthday gift I got my own stamps from my sister. I was looking for a way how I could use them. I like the way how they look together stamped on the brown paper and tied by a scrap fabric piece.

Because the pimped skirt was a present, I wrapped it. I used brown paper for that as well, I think I’m in my brown paper period. I embellished the present with a self made fabric flower. A tutorial on how to make those can be found on the Nest Decorating blog. It’s really addictive to create these flowers in different sizes and colours and for different uses. Have fun, because it’s a perfect way to use your scraps.

Pin Cushion of the Month Club

Half a year ago I submitted to the Pin Cushion of the Month Club. Each month for seven months you receive a package with fabric, haberdasheries, a handmade pin and off course a pattern, to create a pincushion.

Till a few days ago, I didn’t start on any of those…. but here you can see the first results. The pictures were taken in the morning sun of this sunday morning.

Party banner order

Last weekend I worked hard for an order of party banners, I finished 3 and still have 2 to go! It always takes more time then I accounted for. Cutting the fabric, sewing, ironing, sewing again, etc… in my imagination it only takes minutes ;-) But when I deliver the goodies, and I see people are so happy with what I created, that really gives me a boost of energy!

Birthday present

For my friends daughter 3rd birthday, I made a blanket and mattress for an IKEA doll bed I painted red.

I was so pleased with the results it was very hard for me to keep it secret ;-)

This week I’m enjoying a holliday on Texel, one of the Dutch ‘Wadden eilanden’. Because we can use the summer house of the family, I have a whole room I can use as crafting room. I took with me some fabric, yarn and my sewing machine, so I can work on some WIP projects and some projects that lived in my head for a while.
