I feel for summer

I just returned from a two week trip trough Andalusia – Spain. It was the first time I visited Spain, and I loved it! The weather was so nice, warm and sunny but not too hot. The people were so friendly, and most importantly maybe, the FOOD!

People who know me for a longer time, will know that food and eating is a very important part of my daily life. I love to eat, and in Andalusia I could eat each time of the day jummy tapas. So we ate tapas for lunch, in the afternoon with a drink and many nights we ate tapas for dinner too. There is such a huge variety, I never ate the same thing… ah yes for breakfast I ate the same almost every day: fresh orange juice, toast with butter and jam and a cup of tea.

So back at home I still felt for summer, and what I do then: I pick my summer cookbooks from the shelf. My favorite  for getting the summer feeling is ‘Buitenkookboek‘ from the Home and Garden magazine. It’s not only filled with summer food, but also with summery styled photo’s which really help to get the summer feeling. This book is orginally translated from a Norwegian version: ‘Sommerlys‘ by Nina Dreyer Hensley. I found out also a German translation exists: Sommertage. Unfortunately I couldn’t find an English translation.

Oh wow, I really want that book! My last name was Buitenhuis. Down here in Aussie there is nothing of course with buiten on it! This is so cool! & I saw from the website with the book on it that it had an Erica Weeda involved too. My mothers family is Weeda! Double cool! I will have to decide if I will buy something I can’t read very well… lol I can read some & am not short on translators so I could…..
